these three worlds 2023
The 'These Three Worlds' workshop series was part of the these three ... series of workshops and events. They were run in 2023 as part of Melbourne Art Book Fair and Melbourne Design Week. The aim for this year was to produce collaborative booklets using the prompt, "Thinking about the future liveability of your community, what three words come to mind?"
Four workshops were held, Melbourne CBD, Geelong, Coburg North and a Roundtable and binding workshop. In each workshop we came together after selecting words, typesetting, folding and cutting everyone ended up with a collaboratively printed octavo chapbook.

CBD Workshop
On a cold winter's day we met at the RMIT campus in the CBD. The first use of our portable proof press was a success.
Geelong workshop
Working with local artists and designers from Geelong and Winchelsea we incorporated imagery as well as text into the chapbooks.
Coburg North workshop
A full house all-ages event! The event spilled out of the studio with the extra space used for typesetting.
Roundtable @ Coburg North
Now that all the printing was done, it was time to meet and discuss the project with participants as well as too fold and bind the chapbooks.

these three worlds
Please join us for these three worlds workshops and roundtable. We are running three participatory print workshops for Melbourne Art Book Fair 2023. One in Melbourne CBD, one in Coburg North and one in Geelong. We ask participants to respond to the prompt: ‘Thinking about the future liveability of your community, what three words come to mind?’. You will then hand set your three words in metal type and together we will print an octavo format booklet, ready by the end of the workshop. Following the ‘these three worlds’ public printing workshops, a roundtable event will be held on May 27th to view the printed octavo booklets and to discuss with us the future of community printing. We welcome all participants from the workshops to this free event.
